Amazonia Music Theater Company Ltd creates and produces new music theatre, collaborating with leading musicians, choreographers and performers.

It offers popular, potent and topical new work and composition, in celebration of the diverse and the subverse.

Amazonia is a multi-cultural company, created and directed by Jude Alderson, who has a commitment to work which is both political & poetic

Artistic Director of Amazonia, Jude was the driving force behind the legendary SADISTA SISTERS who played a season at RONNIE SCOTTS, made albums, played the West End & toured for 14 years. Trained as a trapeze artist and acrobat, she has worked as an actress in Steven Berkoff's company, playing leading roles in AGAMEMNON, THE TRIAL & MISS JULIE. In France she formed the surrealist mask company CABOT which toured North Africa, Mexico and the States.

In London she played at the Royal Court in Sir Richard Eyre's production of HAMLET, her film acting credits include: SAMMY AND ROSIE GET LAID (Stephen Frears), Ma Vicious in the film about Sid Vicious, SID AND NANCY (Alex Cox), she played Margaret Thatcher in the banned production of Leftover People (Misha Williams) for the BBC, FRENCH LIEUTENANT's WOMAN (Karel Reisz) OUTLANDS with Sean Connery (Peter Hyams) RAINBOW THIEF (Allessandro Jodorowsky) with Christopher Lee & Omar Sharif & ABRAHAM with Barbara Hershey & Richard Harris.
 
Her writing /composing credits include: television play, RACHEL AND THE ROARETTES starring Gary Oldman, Josie Lawrence & Alan Ford. DUCHESS (Everyman Liverpool, British & European tour), A TASTE OF THE GOOD LIFE for Clean Break at the Edinburgh Festival; MADONNA IN SLAG CITY, (Epic musical play all-female cast of seventeen); THE VIRGINS' REVENGE with Annette Badland, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, designed by Mark Thompson (Soho Poly). REAPING PARADISE, a large scale piece about Columbus & the Arawaks; BELONGING, with Claire Benedict and David Sibley a contemporary issue play about race which headlined the CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL , nominated for the LWT award. The song cycle BLOOD WOMAN for the National Theatre, in Kabarett Metropolis directed by Henry Goodman.

She received a Year of The Artist Award 2000, to create her epic musical play about the Civil War THE PEOPLE'S OPERA, which she also directed with the community in the Forest of Dean, with three site-specific performances, including in the forest itself. This involved a cast of sixty-five people, including special needs children, a male voice choir, a chamber orchestra & people from every area of the community. Her daughter Amy Alderson choreographed.

Jude has also directed Stravinsky (L'Histoire du Soldat) & Brecht/Weill in New York for L'Ensemble the contemporary music company; was acting coach to the Frankfurt Ballet & run workshops for 12 years at the Oval House, writing and directing dozens of plays, for young, dis-advantaged, multi-cultural groups, as well as drama classes for homeless men at Arlington House, Camden.

For her multi-cultural company aMAZONIa she has a commitment to work which is both political & poetic, writing two pieces 'M' based on MEDEA (Arts Council Award) - the play was recently translated into Japanese. Her latest music/theatre piece In the Jungle of the City, is set in contemporary London. This show premiered at The Drill Hall in London in January 2003 and will tour again in the 2005.
